Dr. Habil. Annelie Ramsbrock is Research Associate of the Center for the Research of Contemporary History in Potsdam, Germany, and, in AY 2019-20, Visiting Professor of History at the University of Göttingen. She is author of Geschlossene Gesellschaft. Das Gefängnis als Sozialversuch – eine bundesdeutsche Geschichte (2020); The Science of Beauty. Culture and Cosmetics in Modern Germany, 1750-1930 (2015); and Korrigierte Körper.Eine Geschichte künstlicher Schönheit in der Moderne (2011). Her (co-)edited collections include Fotografien im 20. Jahrhundert. Vermittlung und Verbreitung (2013); Conflicted Memories. Europeanizing Contemporary Histories (2011); and Die Unruhe der Kultur. Potentiale des Utopischen (2004). She is currently working on the history of becoming a subject in liberal societies in the twentieth century.
