Teach Europe Workshop 2020

Teach Europe is an annual workshop for teachers hosted by the Center for European Studies at Rutgers University. The program is designed for teachers of languages and literatures, social studies, and history with interests in Europe and provides 5 continuing education credits. As in previous years, the talks and breakout sessions are free to teachers, and are supported by several European consulates and language studies associations.

 Please note that this year’s program will be held virtually online via Zoom. Advance registration is required.

Schedule:

9:30 am   Opening Talk: Prof. Melissa Feinberg (History), "Good Times Behind the Iron Curtain? Teaching the History of Socialism in Eastern Europe"

11:00 am   Workshops (choose one of two)

  • Workshop #1: Prof. Karen Bishop (Spanish and Portuguese), “Close Reading the Spanish Civil War”
  • Workshop #2: Prof. Seth Koven (History)  "Global Britain in the Age of Revolutions: Sake Dean Mohamed Narrates Empire" “Is the EU ‘Falling Forward’ through the Coronavirus Crisis?”

12:30 pm  Lunch and Lunchtime talk: R. Daniel Kelemen (Political Science), “Is the EU ‘Falling Forward’ through the Coronavirus Crisis?”
